The Jeep® Active Drive system is fully automatic and delivers seamless transition in and out of four-wheel drive at any speed. This system requires no driver intervention, delivers yaw correction during dynamic events and improves both understeer and oversteer conditions.
Take the Active Drive system. Add a 20: 1 gear ratio for off-road challenges or towing equipment on your next expedition. The result? Even more 4×4 capabilities to explore the world.
The full-time Jeep Active Drive I 4×4 System will automatically engage four-wheel-drive mode when driving conditions call for it. Whether raging rain, slippery mud, heavy snow or unpredictable gravel roads, this sophisticated system actively monitors wheel slippage and automatically applies torque when needed, giving the driver maximum efficiency and control.
The available Jeep® Active Drive II 4×4 System includes all the features of the Jeep Active Drive I 4×4 System and adds a low range and neutral mode for added capability. The 4×4 Low mode is great for extra low-speed traction and neutral mode enables available flat towing behind an RV.
The Jeep® Active Drive Lock 4×4 System is standard equipment on the Cherokee Trailhawk®. It has all the features of the Jeep Active Drive II 4×4 System but also includes a mechanical rear axle lock and exclusive Selec-Terrain® Traction Management Rock mode.
The available Quadra-Drive® II with rear electronic limited slip differential is a full-time 4×4 system so it’s always active. It is our most advanced 4×4 system and delivers superior all-weather capability by transferring up to 100% of available torque to a single rear wheel if needed.
Capability breeds confidence. The available Quadra-Trac II® 4×4 System features a two-speed low transfer case that uses input from a variety of sensors to determine tire slip at the earliest possible moment and take corrective action. When tire slippage is detected, as much as 100% of available torque is instantly routed to the axle with the most traction. Choose the Auto mode in the available Selec-Terrain® Traction Management System for everyday driving or quickly dial in Sport, Snow, Sand/Mud or Rock for specific driving conditions. Go boldly.
The Rock-Trac® 4×4 system comes standard on the mighty Rubicon model. Rubicon is the vehicle others are measured against for off-road capability; it was named “4×4 of the Decade” by Four-Wheeler magazine. The Rock-Trac 4×4 System gives you more control and more torque, offering superior off-road performance with a 4:1 low-gear ratio that lets you crawl at a lower speed with a greater increase in torque at the wheels.
The Selec-Trac system on Sahara offers permanent torque management, offering optimal grip on slippery terrain and low-traction driving conditions such as rocks, sand, gravel, snow or ice. Thanks to its legendary 4X4 capabilities, each Wrangler model receives a “Trail Rated” badge, certifying that the vehicle has passed a series of rigorous tests in five categories: traction, fording, handling, articulation and ground clearance.
